We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with Golang experience. This position is remote. The candidate will manage various areas of our backend platform, including API integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners. As a Backend Engineer with our User Tribe, you will help make it easier for users to access Rain and build products that maintain positive cash availability.

You will work with our international product and engineering teams to manage a robust digital wallet supporting seamless account creation and employer linking. Our ideal candidate is excited to tackle tough technical challenges and contribute to strategic thinking.

Responsibilities:

• Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, recommend alternatives, and lead engineering efforts to meet targets.
• Design and implement reliable systems within a distributed micro-services architecture.
• Build and maintain integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.
• Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Create reusable code and libraries to promote scalability and collaboration.
• Enforce observability practices using logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation.
• Monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
• Collaborate across teams to align priorities and requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in Go/Golang, Java, Python, or C++.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
• Ability to own projects and drive initiatives independently.
• Experience with agile methodologies and CI/CD frameworks.
• Familiarity with message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
