Job summary

REALM is actively hiring backend engineers to take a proven platform from 1 to 100 and beyond. You’ll own services end-to-end inside a distributed team, delivering scalable backend systems in Go within a live microservices environment.

You’ll design event-driven architectures using Kafka and gRPC, drive migrations, and push for reliability and fast delivery. Remote role, Latin America focus, initial 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software engineering with a backend focus.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems at scale.
• Kafka or other event-streaming experience.
• gRPC experience.
• Track record of owning a major feature, service or migration end to end.
• Clear communicator who works well independently.
• Remote, Latin America (Brazil preferred).
• Independent contractor, 12-month engagement.

The Role

They’re hiring backend engineers to take a proven platform from 1 to 100 and beyond. This is hands-on backend and product engineering. You’d own services end to end inside a distributed team, not maintain a small corner of the system.

• Build and scale backend services in Go
• Design event-driven systems with Kafka and service-to-service communication with gRPC
• Evolve a live microservices platform for scale, reliability and speed of delivery
• Lead features, migrations and re-architecture work from design to production
• Deploy and run services in a Kubernetes/Docker environment

Who they’re looking for

• Remote, based in Latin America (Brazil preferred)
• Independent contractor, initial 12-month engagement with strong potential to extend
• $45–60 USD/hour
• Paid via Deel with monthly invoicing
