We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with some Golang experience. This position is remote. The candidate will be responsible for managing various areas of our backend platform, including API integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.

As a Backend Engineer with our User Tribe, you will play a central role in making it easier for users to access Rain and build products that help users maintain positive cash availability. You will work with our international product and engineering teams to manage a robust digital wallet that enables users to transact through seamless account creation and frictionless employer linking. Our ideal candidate is excited to tackle tough technical challenges and seek opportunities to contribute to our strategic thinking.

Responsibilities:

1. Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions, recommend alternative approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet ambitious targets.
2. Design and implement reliable systems and applications in a fully distributed micro-services architecture.
3. Build and maintain integrations with 3rd-party vendors and partners.
4. Design and implement highly available RESTful APIs supporting user-facing web and mobile applications.
5. Focus on creating reusable code and libraries to foster collaboration and scalability.
6. Enforce observability best practices using tools like logging, metrics, and alerting systems.
7. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation including architecture designs, APIs, workflows, and system configurations.
8. Continuously monitor systems for performance and scalability improvements.
9. Collaborate effectively across teams to align priorities, clarify requirements, and ensure smooth development processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of Software Development experience.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
3. Proficiency in back-end languages such as Go / Golang, Java, Python, C++.
4. Strong expertise in designing RESTful APIs.
5. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and optimization.
6. Experience building reliable, scalable user-facing applications.
7. Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architectures.
8. Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
9. Familiarity with cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
10. Ability to own projects and drive initiatives independently.
11. Experience with agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
12. Proficiency with message queuing systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
13. Experience with CI/CD frameworks like Gitlab CI and Github Actions.
