Senior Back-End Software Engineer (Node.Js)

We are looking for a full-time, remote Senior Back-End Software Engineer with 7+ years of back-end software development experience and a strong background in Node.js to join the engineering team of our U.S. client. Working closely with product stakeholders, you will play an integral role in building industry-leading products.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new applications and features
2. Build and enhance advanced applications using Node.js
3. Create, publish, and consume data through clean API endpoints
4. Provide estimates for features, bug fixes, upgrades, and new projects
5. Participate in clearly and concisely documenting applications and custom-built frameworks
6. Write automated unit and feature tests enabling continuous delivery of your great work
7. Maximize development efficiency by continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies
8. Support teammates with good communication and feedback during code reviews
9. See the big picture and support the client's mission of facilitating better pet care

Required Experience

1. Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
2. 7+ years of engineering experience working on consumer-facing (B2C or B2B), high-volume, commercial software products and services
3. 4+ years of experience with Node.js and TypeScript (bonus)
4. Experience with object-oriented programming patterns
5. Experience with scaling and performance improvement
6. Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational / non-relational database systems
7. High execution mindset while balancing the risk vs costs vs timeline
8. Proven history of delivering production-ready applications in a timely manner
9. Experience creating and consuming API's (preferably with GraphQL)
10. Familiarity with AWS cloud services (server setup a bonus)
11. Team player eager to learn from and mentor others
12. Proven delivery experience in a vibrant, dynamic startup environment
13. A collaborative approach, a can-do attitude, and a relentless pursuit to attain goals and solve problems
14. Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired Experience

1. University degree or relevant industry experience (optimally a technical or engineering degree)
2. Experience with DynamoDB and Elasticsearch
