Descrição da oferta de emprego

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant (US based experience required) based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to lead accounting delivery for U.S.-based clients while managing complex financial operations across multiple accounts. You will oversee core accounting cycles, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll-related activities, and budget analysis. The position combines hands‑on accounting expertise with client relationship management and team leadership. You will review work, mentor accounting professionals, and help maintain high standards of accuracy and timely delivery. A strong focus is placed on process improvement, automation, and responsible use of AI-enabled tools. You will work remotely from Latin America while aligning your availability with California Pacific Time.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full accounting cycle across Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Record to Report, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activities, reconciliations, payroll oversight, accruals, prepayments, and financial reporting.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for U.S.-based clients, managing inquiries, meetings, presentations, project plans, timelines, deliverables, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead team workloads by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, facilitating review meetings, addressing challenges, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of deliverables.
  • Review and approve accounting work prepared by Junior and Intermediate Accountants, provide mentoring and feedback, and support onboarding, training, and recruitment activities.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoice reconciliation, monthly invoicing, payment recording, collections follow‑up, aging reviews, and escalation procedures.
  • Oversee bank reconciliation activities, including daily transaction recording and timely reconciliation of bank and book balances.
  • Manage accounts payable controls, including payment approvals, supporting documentation, purchase orders, AP aging reports, and escalation of inconsistencies.
  • Oversee employee and contractor payment records, payroll expense entries, journal entries, and related reporting within established deadlines.
  • Support month‑end and financial statement close processes, including accruals, reversals, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidations, variance and trend analysis, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Design and implement accounting policies, SOPs, and process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Identify opportunities to automate accounting workflows and adopt approved AI and technology solutions while validating outputs and protecting confidential information.
  • Coordinate strategic improvement initiatives with the Fractional Controller and perform other related accounting or operational activities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or a recognized local university degree in Accounting or Public Accountancy that qualifies the candidate for the relevant professional accounting credential. A general business or finance degree alone is not sufficient.
  • Current professional public‑accounting certification, license, or registration in good standing is mandatory. Candidates must provide the credential, issuing authority, jurisdiction, and registration or license number for verification.
  • For candidates based in Brazil or other LATAM countries, the applicable recognized local public‑accounting credential must be held and will be subject to verification.
  • An active U.S. CPA license is an advantage but does not replace the mandatory local professional authorization. CMA certification is also advantageous.
  • 5–7 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or in a comparable accounting leadership role, preferably within an outsourced or international environment.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on accounting experience supporting U.S.-based clients or businesses is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, applicable tax requirements, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to manage client relationships and explain complex accounting concepts clearly.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, quality‑control, communication, and relationship‑management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a structured approach to problem‑solving, reviewing work, maintaining records, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, team workloads, and time‑sensitive deliverables in a demanding client‑service environment.
  • Experience with cost accounting is an advantage, while experience using AI‑driven accounting or automation tools is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Hubstaff is required. Experience with Xero, Bill.com, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP and accounts payable platforms is advantageous.
  • Ability to work according to California local time, including adjustments between Pacific Standard Time and Pacific Daylight Time.
  • Ability to work remotely from a suitable Latin American location with reliable connectivity and appropriate confidentiality, security, and data‑protection arrangements.
  • Willingness to use Hubstaff for mandatory engagement time tracking and to comply with applicable tracking requirements.
Benefits
  • Monthly contractor fee of USD 3,000–4,000 gross, with the final amount based on qualifications, accounting capability, client communication skills, and experience. A more competitive offer may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
  • Up to 120 hours per year of service‑break credits for personal time, rest, or unexpected emergencies, subject to the applicable program.
  • Credits for 13 recognized U.S. observance days per year, separate from regular service‑break credits.
  • Monthly wellness allowance eligibility beginning in month 7 after six months of continuous engagement, under the applicable program.
  • Annual dependent wellness allowance after the qualifying period of continuous engagement, subject to the applicable program.
  • Fully remote work from Latin America.
  • Opportunity to work directly with U.S.-based clients and contribute to international accounting operations.
  • Exposure to process improvement, automation, and AI‑enabled accounting solutions.
  • Leadership, mentoring, and professional development opportunities within a collaborative international environment.
  • Recruitment process targeted for completion within approximately seven to ten calendar days, subject to scheduling and completion of required checks.
