The applicant will be responsible for sales of control & automation systems for on & off highway machines which include but it is not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), units for operation and monitoring, gateways, I/O modules, telematics, sensors and cameras for mobile machines/applications. The candidate must be an expert on a technical level for the products under direct responsibility and must know competitive products and technologies. The activities involve strong cooperation with marketing to provide the company the strategy and the right marketing tools, find and create opportunities at existing and new accounts, give functional support to salespeople and work in close cooperation with Product Sales Managers (PSM) to enable them to start the sales process, ensure in close cooperation with sales management that product targets are achieved and measures are taken, give technical support if needed, maintain a high level of motivation and commitment to help the local sales team with promotion of ifm innovative solutions and expand own knowledge level by exploring the market. The professional’s attitude must comply with ifm philosophy and principles where every employee are considered ambassadors and bearers of a positive and unmistakable image of the company. All employees, regardless of their position within the company, must demonstrate a close relationship with our customers. Every employee is directly or indirectly a salesperson. The specific responsibilities include:
- Establish sales targets for Mobile Machines market segment and related products in line with the company’s objectives.
- Coach staff through in-person visits to priority customers.
- Mobile machinery industry key account management (national accounts with the objective of establishing ifm as a preferred supplier).
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of ifm products, features/benefits, functionality, pricing strategy, and competitive advantages and weaknesses.
- Identify solutions to specific customers and industries solved by ifm control systems, which could be replicated to other similar customers.
- Identify industries where ifm control systems for mobile machines and ifm sensor solutions has established proven success, research the market for all similar operations, create a business and action plan to systematically target, and win those customers.
- Visiting customers on a systematic, regular and on-going basis, with frequency and priority based on potential and in line with the plan.
- Maximize sales of ifm mobile products by capitalizing on opportunities at high potential machine builders (OEM), and continuously supporting the ifm sales process with the account base.
- Discuss with customers their controls’ architecture, vehicle requirements, and I/O devices.
- Preparation of project budgets, taking into account the requirements gathered by the customers, ifm salespersons and external system integrators.
- Stay current on changes in mobile control technologies and trends.
- Collaborate with customers to find a mutually beneficial balance between product and service offerings that remain both profitable and competitive.
- Planning and facilitation of seminars for customers to create product awareness and high quality training in its use.
- Eventually provide on-site support to customers during start-up and implementation of a project.
- Conduct training seminars for contacts that are associated with the projects.
- Customize sales presentations based on the audience and area of interest.
- Work closely with the technical coordinator/manager to identify the needs of the customers and markets with respect to new products, sales tools, and required services.
- Work closely with Product Sales Mangers (PSM) and marketing department during pre-launch phase of new products.
- Create pricing strategy for individual customer requirements.
- Undertake and successfully complete all international and local trainings.
- Demonstrate ifm values and professionalism and to act in our best interest in all that you do, including adhering to all company policies and procedures and requirements of your role.
Pre-requisites:
The job position requires constant learning and knowledge on different areas, such as industrial communication protocols, e.g. Profinet, MQTT, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, etc. in addition to advanced knowledge in specific communication networks such as CAN, CANopen & SAE J1939. The pre-requisites are:
- Bachelor in electrical, mechanical engineering or correlated areas.
- Excellent communication, presentation and sales skills.
- Excellent knowledge on hydraulic of mobile machines and electronic controls, network technology (CAN/CANopen, Ethernet, SAE J1939) and sensor technology.
- Excellent knowledge on programming languages according to IEC 61131-3 (LD, ST, FBD, SFC and CFC). MATLAB, C and/or C++ desirable but no essential.
- Minimum of 50% available time on the road at customers travel/away from home.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with ifm organization and also medium and high level contacts at the accounts.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently in prioritizing daily schedule and workload.
- Ability to assume a leadership role when needed.
- Excellent business acumen and negotiation skills.
- English level C1 European reference or similar.
