Your Role
We are a fast-scaling startup. At Virtual Internships, we’re looking for someone excited to prospect, think strategically, experiment with new approaches, and contribute to building a scalable sales engine. To thrive here, you’ll need a growth mindset, resilience, and the ability to work through ambiguity as we expand across the USA.
As a Sales Development Representative, you’ll focus on identifying and engaging university stakeholders, initiating meaningful conversations, and generating qualified opportunities for our partnerships team. You’ll work closely with senior sales leaders and Account Executives, gaining mentorship while playing a key role in driving our growth in the education sector. Curiosity, adaptability, and drive will set you apart.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prospecting, generating new leads, and creating opportunities for your regional Account Executive to contribute to overall growth.
- Working with the Demand Generation team to nurture Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) through the sales funnel.
- Conducting Discovery calls to understand prospect needs and pain points, and identify the best solutions.
- Being the first point of contact for potential customers and creating a positive first impression of Virtual Internships.
In your first 2 weeks, you will:
- Complete onboarding to understand our mission, structure, product, and values.
- Build relationships across Sales, Marketing, and Partner Success teams.
- Analyze tools, systems, and data for patterns and opportunities.
- Shadow SDRs and Account Executives to learn the sales process.
- Collaborate on crafting outreach messaging and sequences.
By the end of your first month, you will:
- Articulate our value proposition to key education sector personas.
- Conduct Discovery calls with coaching and feedback.
- Launch and test personalized outreach strategies.
- Provide insights on what resonates with prospects.
Within 3 months, you will:
- Own the full top-of-funnel sales process.
- Meet or exceed targets for meetings and opportunities.
- Collaborate with Account Executives for smooth lead handover.
- Refine outreach strategies using data and experience.
- Contribute to cross-functional campaigns and onboarding of new SDRs.

Your Experience
- 1-2+ years in a business development role.
- Experience exceeding sales quotas.
- Additional experience in digital marketing, negotiation, client relations, or project management is a plus.
You stand out if you have:
- Experience at Series A/B scaleups, especially in EdTech.
- CRM experience (Salesforce/Hubspot).
- Experience working with university executives.
- Remote work experience.
