Wise in São Paulo is seeking a Senior Risk Manager for Latam & MEA to lead risk management across the region. You will identify, assess and mitigate risks to safeguard Wise's operations, collaborating with product teams on changes, launches and horizon risks.

The role requires deep understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and best practices in risk management. This is a hybrid role with in-office immersion and regional collaboration.

Qualificações

  • Experience in the financial industry, ideally with first line and second line experience.
  • Proven track record leading risk management functions with regional scope and business engagement.
  • Experience in operations, enterprise risk, or regulatory risk within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, risk systems, and reporting tools.

  • Develop and implement a regional risk strategy for Latam & MEA.
  • Ensure consistent application of risk policies and procedures across operations.
  • Conduct risk self-assessments and support remediation.
  • Provide risk insights to product teams for changes and launches.

  • Oversee risk management tools and analytics for monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with business units to design and implement controls and action plans.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Senior Risk Manager for Latam & MEA as an individual contributor. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the risk function across the region, overseeing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts to safeguard the stability and integrity of the organisation's operations in the region.

This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Your mission
  • Be a critical member of the Latam & MEA Risk team in developing and executing a global risk management strategy tailored to the region.
  • Ensure consistent application of risk management methodologies, policies and procedures across all operations.
  • Conduct risk self assessments for the business in entities, as per risk management principles, supporting remediation and closure.
  • Work closely with product teams to provide risk insights into product changes, new product and market launch, open issues and horizon risks relevant to the region.
  • Monitor and analyse regional market trends, product risks, incidents, regulatory developments and emerging risk factors to assess their impact on the organisation's risk profile and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the implementation of risk management tools and systems, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance risk monitoring, reporting and decision‑making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with business units and functions to design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies, controls and action plans, monitoring the effectiveness of controls and recommending enhancements as necessary.
  • Provide timely and accurate risk reports and updates to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key risk exposures, trends and emerging risks in the region.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulators, industry peers and other external stakeholders to stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends and best practices in risk management.
Qualifications
  • Experience in the financial industry, ideally with first line and second line experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading risk management functions with strong business engagement, including developing and implementing regional risk frameworks, policies, procedures and leading teams.
  • Extensive experience in at least one of these: operations, enterprise risk and/or regulatory risk management within the financial services industry.
  • Good understanding of risk management principles, risk systems, reporting tools, including policies and frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
  • Strong understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements and geopolitical factors impacting the region, with the ability to assess and quantify risks across various business lines and geographies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management, regulators and other stakeholders in the region.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable navigating the complexities of a subsidiary operation.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to drive results internally with global teams, while fostering a culture of local ownership and initiative.
  • Strong commitment to integrity, ethics and professionalism, with a passion for promoting a strong risk culture and fostering collaboration across the organisation’s operations.
