Sumitomo Bakelite Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a research scientist to conduct experimental work on materials and formulations. You will document data in reports and publications, and collaborate with engineers to translate findings into commercial products.

Maintain lab equipment and ensure safety compliance. The role requires a strong foundation in chemistry and physics, hands-on experience with laboratory techniques, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, physics, materials science, or related science field.

Key responsibilities

1. Conduct experimental research and testing in chemistry and physics to develop and improve materials and formulations

2. Analyse and interpret experimental data, documenting findings in detailed reports and scientific publications

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into practical applications and commercial products

4. Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards

5. Participate in the design and execution of research projects from conception through to completion

6. Support the troubleshooting of technical issues and optimisation of existing manufacturing and production processes

7. Contribute to the development of new testing methodologies and experimental procedures

8. Communicate research outcomes and recommendations to stakeholders and senior management

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline

2. Strong foundational knowledge of chemistry and physics principles and their practical applications

3. Experience with laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and analytical methods relevant to materials testing and characterisation

4. Ability to conduct systematic experiments, collect data accurately, and analyse results objectively

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document research clearly and present findings effectively

6. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and compliance

7. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges independently and collaboratively

8. Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software is advantageous

9. Prior experience in materials science, polymer chemistry, or related fields is preferred

10. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
