Descrição da oferta de emprego

You'll perform practical mechanical design for downhole drilling systems and the associated tooling and test equipment that make ultra-deep geothermal possible. Based at GA Drilling's Product Centre in Rio de Janeiro, you'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality & Compliance as the technology progresses from its current TRL 4/5 prototype stage towards field qualification. The role combines mechanical design with hands-on involvement in assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You are not expected to arrive as an expert in every analysis method or engineering tool used by the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze mechanical components, systems, tooling, and test equipment for downhole drilling technologies
  • Create 3D parts and assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and controlled engineering data, including BOMs and revisions
  • Use calculations, testing, and -where relevant- simulation or CFD to support design decisions and understand system performance
  • Help mature designs through qualification and validation testing, design reviews, manufacturing reviews, and technical risk management
  • Take hands-on responsibility for assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repair, and testing procedures as the tools mature
  • Diagnose equipment failures, contribute to root-cause analysis, and feed findings back into the design
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and external suppliers to support integration, commissioning, and deployment
What You Bring
Technical Toolkit
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Proven experience in mechanical component design and manufacturing
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric CAD, including part and assembly modelling and manufacturing drawings
  • Experience applying GD&T and working with BOMs, revisions, and PDM systems
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and a commitment to safe, reliable, and well-documented work
  • Autodesk Inventor and Vault are preferred, but experience with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or comparable tools is also welcome
Professional Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; MSc is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic engineering decisions
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with international and cross-functional teams
  • Nice to have - experience in the following is beneficial
    • Experience with assembly, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, or failure reporting for complex mechanical or electromechanical systems
    • Experience with FEA, stress or thermal calculations, hydraulics, CFD, or fluid-property evaluation
    • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, or other multi-domain modelling tools
    • Downhole or drilling-tool design experience, or exposure to oil and gas or geothermal applications
    • Experience progressing hardware from prototype through qualification testing or field deployment
Languages
  • English - B2 (must have)
  • Employer pension fund contributions
  • Health Insurance plan for whole family
  • Professional training and education free of charge and within working hours
  • Transport and meal allowance
