Purpose of the Job

Oxitec is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Quality Control Lab Lead to join our team in Brazil. This position will support all activities of quality control of an innovative insect technology. We are looking for a passionate candidate who will be directly involved with the quality control analysis of samples collected from entomological production, supporting the development of new quality methodologies, laboratory routines, data support, production incoming goods analysis, and supporting the quality assurance area to elaborate and/or review quality documentation. This position will work with other staff members to ensure procedures and products adhere to established quality standards. Considerable experience with planning and coordination of activities is required; knowledge about entomology is interesting, but the willingness to learn and the dream of changing the world for the better is essential.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for QC laboratory routine scheduling and resource planning.
2. Lead the QC Analyst team, guiding and ensuring that activities are executed within time, quality, and safety standards.
3. Perform data analysis, checking whether results are within expected standards and identifying opportunities for improvement.
4. Prepare management reports and update internal KPIs.
5. Participate in technical processes and activities in the QC laboratory, supporting lab routine and ensuring timely delivery of results.
6. Ensure accurate data is recorded in lab notebooks and digital applications.
7. Write and review SOPs, non-conformances, technical reports, and general quality documentation.
8. Comply with the Quality Program procedures and policies, as well as H&S standards.
9. Time flexibility for weekends and holidays occasionally when necessary.

Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or related areas.
• Strong experience in laboratory routine and resource planning.
• Well-developed organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, including team building and cohesion.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to actively listen.
• Critical vision and good analytical skills.
• Postgraduate degree or strong experience in the biotech and/or data analysis fields is an advantage.
• Good Manufacturing Practice knowledge is a differential.
• Advanced English level.
