Company: Alstom

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

If you’re an experienced engineering leader with strong technical expertise, this is your opportunity to take on a senior role as Project Engineering Manager – Generic Application Software in Stockholm, Sweden.

You’ll lead a team responsible for delivering generic application software for trackside systems—from analysing and allocating customer requirements through software development, integration and verification to customer acceptance and authorization.

Working closely with the Project Manager, Subsystem Managers and teams across Engineering, you’ll have end-to-end technical accountability for the solution, including quality, cost, delivery and performance. These are complex, software-focused projects that require sound judgement, adaptability and the ability to translate contractual requirements into the right technical solution.

We'll look to you for:

Lead and develop the engineering team delivering generic application software for trackside signalling systems.

Own the complete engineering lifecycle, from contractual requirement analysis and allocation through design, implementation, integration, verification, validation and customer acceptance.

Ensure the delivered software and technical solution satisfy customer requirements, contractual scope, safety expectations and the agreed project time plan.

Act as the technical voice of the customer within the project and take decisions on complex technical issues and changes.

Manage engineering quality, cost, delivery, performance, schedules, resources and risks, and provide clear monthly reporting.

Drive integration across subsystems and coordinate system-level activities through final project acceptance.

Establish effective interfaces with Project Management, System Owners, Procurement, Operations, Sales, Bids and other engineering functions.

Promote maintainability throughout the system lifecycle and continuously improve engineering processes, tools and ways of working.

Adapt the engineering approach to complex projects that cannot be delivered through a one-size-fits-all template.

All about you

We value leadership, technical depth and a collaborative mindset. To succeed in this senior role, you are likely to bring:

A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering , or equivalent professional experience.

Technical knowledge of railway signalling, such as interlocking, ATP, metro, CBTC and/or ERTMS technologies is preferred.

Experience delivering a comparable complex project through its full lifecycle, preferably in a software-development environment.

The ability to understand software, hardware and their interfaces, and to make informed system-level technical decisions.

Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Strong customer relationship and stakeholder-management experience, including the ability to represent contractual technical scope.

Strong planning, prioritization, risk-management and reporting capabilities.

A collaborative, adaptable approach and experience working effectively across functions.

Fluency in Swedish is preferred; professional proficiency in English.
