The Project Engineer position is responsible for assisting and supporting Senior Project Managers and Project Directors in representing Roeslein & Associates in all matters involving the prospecting for and the proposing, negotiating, securing, and implementation of our projects and will serve as the customer's single point of interface throughout each of his/her projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Business Development in developing estimates and schedule for proposals; presenting proposals to existing and potential customers; and developing and maintaining existing customer relationships; and assist Business Development in developing new customer relationships.
  • Assist Project Managers responsible for customer management and communication, including change orders, engineering details, invoicing, and project schedule updates.
  • Assist Project Managers responsible for project financials, including reviewing job cost details, reviewing actuals vs. estimated costs, invoicing, and monthly projections.
  • Assist Project Managers responsible for project team management and communication, including kick-off meetings, project progress meetings, and lessons learned.
  • Prepare all proposal documents for all RFQs (proposal, estimate, schedule, clarifications & exceptions, etc). Estimates and proposals must meet client RFQ requirements for format and content.
  • Manage, interpret and enforce existing customer contracts and terms of all project subcontracts.
  • Establish a complete and detailed project schedule for each project; a thoroughly documented scope of work for the project; and a project budget in accordance with Roeslein’s cost accounting system.
  • Plan for and secure any required subcontractors, including (but not limited to) engineers, consultants, fabricators, electrical and mechanical contractors, clerks, schedulers, administrative support, etc.
  • Implement bidding process for project subcontractors to obtain the most competitive prices.
  • Assist with negotiation and authorization of all terms and conditions of project subcontracts, and authorize subcontract changes.
  • Oversee, control and authorize all project-related expenditures.
  • Provide monthly project cost projections as compared with the project’s estimated budget; and monthly reports of project cost projections.
  • Present the contracted scope of work to the project team and ensure complete understanding and acceptance of responsibilities.
  • Provide thorough communication with the project team.
  • Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 10-50% per year and up to four (4) weeks duration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. Must be able to travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Courses in the area of Project Management.
  • Advanced English is mandatory.

OTHER DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

  • It is preferred a minimum of Three (3) years of professional experience in a technically related field is required. It is strongly preferred that Two (2) years of that experience be as a Project Engineer.
  • A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of in strategic and tactical goal setting and attainment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent presentation skills are required.
  • Strong organization, leadership, negotiation, and delegation skills are required.
  • Strong financial background including operations budget development, cost control, and capital spending justification.
  • Working knowledge of contract laws, jobsite safety procedures, and purchasing practices.
  • Specific estimating skills for engineering, construction management, and mechanical/electrical construction services is a must.
  • Working knowledge of common scheduling concepts such as CPM, PERT, Gantt charts, resource loading, etc.
  • Skilled in the use of scheduling software tools and must be able to create schedule reports for all audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Must comply with Roeslein & Associate’s core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintain sound relationships among and with employees.

This is an in-person position, and applicants must be comfortable commuting to Arujá/SP. The role is primarily office-based, however, occasional travel to jobsites both domestically and internationally may be required.
