Job Overview:

The Product Owner , Data Governance, Policies, and Standards plays a pivotal role in defining, maintaining , evangelizing all data governance policies, standards, best practices, and technology. This key role supports the Product Owner , Data Quality, Governance, MDM in shap ing the organization's ability to leverage data as a strategic asset, ensuring that data assets are trusted, well-governed, high-quality, and aligned with business objectives to support strategic decision-making, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, advanced analytics, and data -driven innovation.

This leader will champion data accessibility, integrity, and usability, and foster a culture of data stewardship across the organization. This role requires a significant understanding of complex, enterprise data ecosystems, cloud-native architectures, data modeling, and data lifecycle management.

The person in this position is a senior technology leader who supports the Product Owner , Data Quality, Governance, MDM , i n the day-by-day management and maximiz ation of the value of the data governance and metadata management platform .

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support the e stablish ment and manage ment of enterprise-wide data governance policies, frameworks, and compliance strategies for both structured and unstructured data.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Security executives to establish and maintain adherence to HIPAA, GDPR, FDA, and other industry regulations, proactively shaping enterprise data privacy and protection policies and procedures.

  • Design and implement enterprise data management frameworks, emphasizing scalable, self-service data access that promotes consistency, accessibility, and reusability of data assets.

  • Collaborate closely with IT and business leaders to foster data democratization, enabling empowered self-service access to high-quality, governed data for data-driven decision-making.

  • Advance the adoption of data lineage, metadata automation, and data quality monitoring to enhance data visibility, traceability, and proactive issue resolution.

  • Oversee the architecture and performance of enterprise data governance and management platforms, leveraging tools such as Collibra, Azure Purview, and Profisee MDM.

  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure Azure cloud-based architectures align with data governance best practices, promoting scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications (Minimum Required):

  • 1 0 + years of progressive IT leadership experience, with a strong track record of success in building enterprise data governance and metadata management demonstrating at least 5 years of deep expertise and hands-on experience in data governance programs.

  • Proven experience in the large-scale delivery and deployment of data solutions on the Azure platform.

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating enterprise data governance strategies, with a focus on the definition of policies and standards.

  • E xpertise in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and metadata strategies, with a focus on ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging data management trends.

  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with leading data governance tools, including Collibra , Purview , Azure Tools , as well as broader data management and integration platforms.

  • Proven experience implementing and scaling data lineage, master/reference data, and data cataloging solutions, with an emphasis on optimizing data governance and visibility.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science , or a related field.

  • Experience leading enterprise-wide data governance and foundational data programs in a Clinical Research Organization (CRO).

  • Strong understanding of federated data governance strategies, and the ability to implement them successfully in a large organization.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing automated governance workflows for enhanced data management efficiency and intelligence.
