Job summary

Prysmian is seeking an SR Product Engineer in Sorocaba, Brazil to drive the development and improvement of energy cables from concept through design and testing. You will collaborate with customers to define requirements, lead feasibility studies, and ensure alignment with standards and cost objectives.

The role requires strong engineering fundamentals, English proficiency, and hands-on experience with R&D, manufacturing, and quality processes, plus familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in engineering (Electrical preferred) and relevant design experience.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Proficient in Excel, VBA, and macros.
• Experience in R&D, manufacturing, or quality environments.
• Familiar with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Plan, study, and develop new and improved energy cables.
• Define development requirements with customers.
• Conduct technical prospecting and product improvement.
• Evaluate projects and products; issue reports and opinions.
• Develop designs, specs, prototypes, materials, and processes.
• Monitor construction, tests, and results; ensure standards.
• Lead research projects and feasibility analyses.
• Support testing and qualification, certification, and homologation.
• Provide technical support to factory during industrialization.
• Assist Marketing and Commercial teams with technical materials.

Team Overview

SR Product Engineer – Energy Cables

Responsibilities

Based in Sorocaba, Brazil, reporting to the RD Brazil Manager, you will be responsible carry out the activities of analysis, planning, research, studies, preparation and development of products, from its conception and design to new products or improvement and improvement of existing ones, based on customer needs, preparing estimates of costs, deadlines, conducting various tests, based on international guidelines, techniques and technologies preestablished by the Matrix, aiming to provide the company with competitive products in costs quality, safety, health and the environment. You will focus on the following activities:

• Plan, study, research and develop products
• Define, with customers, information to carry out the development of new products
• Conduct technical and technological prospecting, identifying needs for improvements of products
• Conduct evaluations of projects and products, issue reports and technical opinions
• Develop products, elaborating designs, specifications, prototypes, materials, processes
• monitor the construction, tests and analysis of results
• Ensure that product development is within the technical standards
• Lead research projects, feasibility analyses of products
• Participate in activities of qualification, certification and homologation of products
• Develop projects of modifications of products
• Search and implement cost-effective and saving opportunities in all possible products,
• Technical support to the factory in industrialization phases
• Technical support to Marketing (technical brochures, catalogues...) and commercial (visits to regional strategic customers).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking fora person with the following skills:

• Bachelor’s in engineering (Electrical preferred);
• Advanced English, written and spoken; (Spanish will be differential);
• Advanced Excel (macros and VBA will be differential);
• Proven experience with R&D/manufacturing/quality;
• Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
