About the role:

Through effective business partnering and collaboration with R&D, operations, finance and global procurement teams, own the implementation and definition of packaging strategies:

Applying strategic procurement excellence by leading the execution of and defining market-specific category strategies built on Diageo’s best methods, standards and tools to deliver procurement value for Diageo.

Coordinating end-to-end execution of category strategies ensuring that markets are aligned and working in line with strategy to deliver productivity and value expected.

Serving as a market subject-matter expert for specific spend categories, ensuring collection and leverage of supply market expertise and close engagement with partners for value-adding procurement.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. End-to-end category excellence: Take market-wide ownership for maximizing procurement value for Diageo from paper categories, including application of best-in-class market knowledge, customer engagement, global community support in market, tools & techniques. Provide clear needs to global category leads.

  2. Partnership with Global Category leads: Collaborate with market sourcing activities through provision of standard methodologies, market data and feedback from execution and lessons learned. Align with strategic objectives.

  3. Strategy execution: Take accountability for end-to-end execution of all paper category strategies, monitor progress, and adjust as needed to improve results in alignment with business leads. Ensure team collaboration behind strategies and resolve market-wide customer concerns.

  4. Business partnering: Develop and grow relationships with customers, partners and suppliers for deeper insights; advise on gaining greater value from procurement engagement. Bring global capability to the market.

  5. Enhanced market performance: Achieve improvements in service levels, cost efficiencies, and market growth through effective procurement strategies.

  6. Contract management: Ensure market-specific requirements are incorporated into contracts, review and co-develop contracts with GCMs, and lead completion of contracts for various spend categories.

  7. Mitigate strategic and sourcing risks: Identify and develop mitigations for potential risks, engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure success.

  8. Supplier relationship management: Establish standards, trust, and effective ways of working with suppliers to ensure performance, risk mitigation, and rapid issue resolution.

  9. Supplier performance and development: Set metrics, drive consistency, resolve performance issues, and collaborate with suppliers to unlock opportunities and capabilities.

Experience / skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, industrial engineering or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement packaging, FMCG/spirits, with subject-matter expertise in relevant supply markets and spend categories;
  • Proven track record in leading projects, negotiating with suppliers, and developing procurement strategies;
  • Strong analytical and financial awareness, understanding of AOP requirements and value drivers;
  • Experience in senior or middle management roles influencing teams and stakeholders;
  • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, presentation, social skills.
