Responsible for driving process improvements in the Filling & Packing areas to achieve expected line performance. Provides technical support for the implementation of new equipment and technologies. Oversees technical activities (related to filling and packaging) concerning product launches and relaunches, aligned with the company’s innovation plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute implementation activities for packaging of locally manufactured new products (cans, bottles, tubes, labels, shipping boxes, etc.) according to corporate guidelines.
- Lead transportation tests for new items or as required.
- Coordinate project activities for product launches and relaunches in the Filling & Packing area by participating in Line Trials, Component Trials, and 0-series, aiming for vertical ramp-up.
- Manage the approval flow of packaging artwork (PDFs), analyzing die-cuts and technical information, interfacing with Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and suppliers.
- Contribute to the technical assessment of new imported products from other production centers, through cost analysis and technical aspects such as packaging specifications.
- Manage master data processes, including creation/modification of finished product BOMs, logistics data, and technical feasibility.
- Support new equipment projects by actively participating in URS, FAT, and SAT phases, as well as conducting IQ/OQ/PQ validations.
- Evaluate local alternatives and technical innovations in packaging through market monitoring, supplier interaction, trade shows, technical visits, training, and liaison with headquarters.
- Support areas like Marketing, Foreign Trade, Quality Control, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Manufacturing by clarifying technical doubts related to packaging, through specification analysis, technical literature, liaison with headquarters, and conducting machine tests and qualitative assessments.
- Lead the definition of CIP processes and initiatives for improving cleaning between products.
- Assist in the development of new local packaging suppliers, in collaboration with Purchasing and Quality Control, through technical information analysis, visits, and audits.
- Support the development of local packaging alternatives by technically investigating packaging and filling processes, aiming for cost-efficiency and market adaptation.
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing and quality teams by participating in deviation investigations.
- Develop promotional packaging and rework packaging solutions as needed, aligned with Marketing, Trade Marketing, Purchasing, and Third Parties.
- Prioritize compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements.
- Lead and actively participate in agile squads for managing projects and initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related areas.
Experience
5 to 7 years in Packaging Development or Process Engineering roles within the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
Special Requirements
- Team leadership experience
- Fluent English; Spanish is desirable
- Advanced technical and scientific knowledge of cosmetic packaging
- Experience with change and complexity management
- Knowledge of cosmetic industrial processes
- Familiarity with packaging equipment and materials
