Are you a visionary leader with a passion for driving success in the reinsurance industry?We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Reinsurance business in Latin America and the Caribbean. With a focus onstrategic growthandrelationship management, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a diverse and vibrant region.

About the Role

As the President of Reinsurance for Latin America and the Caribbean, you will have overall responsibility for the business's financial results, risk management, and talent development. You will lead a team of approximately 80 colleagues across multiple locations, including Sao Paulo, Bogota, Mexico City, and Miami. Your role includes direct line manager responsibility for both P&C and L&H, Treaty and Facultative Client Management/CUW/CMCA, Fac Underwriting, Claims, and L&H Pricing and Underwriting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Profitability and Strategy:You will be responsible for the profitability of the Reinsurance portfolio in Latin America. Define high-level strategies and communicate them to Regional Heads, monitor portfolio results, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Growth and Development:Conduct portfolio reviews, develop strategies for growth, and oversee country plans. Help develop and implement strategic and operational plans to secure our position in the region and ensure adequate returns to shareholders.
  • Competitive Awareness:Maintain awareness of competitors and their strategies, taking appropriate actions to protect our strategic position.
  • Internal and External Visibility:Ensure adequate internal visibility through active participation in Group, Division, and BU committees and project teams. Promote the visibility and branding of Swiss Re.
  • Resource Management:Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs and costs, and properly accounting for expenses to achieve fiscal responsibility.
  • Client and Broker Relationships:Establish, maintain, and expand relationships with key clients and broker decision-makers. Support Latin America initiatives through the Region/Group and assure compliance with underwriting guidelines and market conduct.
  • Leadership and Culture:Model Swiss Re Leadership Imperatives and manage a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback, and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development.
  • Operational Risk Management:Responsible for Operational Risk Management for the business.

You will be a key member of the L&H and P&C Management Team, reporting directly to the CEO of P&C Reinsurance.

Essential:

  • An excellent understanding of P&C and/or L&H (re)insurance lines with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven consultative sales and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional and cross-regional projects with significant impact.
  • A client-oriented approach and strong leadership capabilities.
  • Fluency in English

Nice to Have:

  • Fluency in Spanish, with Portuguese as a plus.
  • A broad knowledge of Latin American regulations.
  • A wide network of senior-level contacts in the Latin American insurance and reinsurance markets.
  • Cultural exposure and excellent social skills to engage with clients at various levels.
