Responsibilities

1. Design and implement efficient PostgreSQL schemas to support product features and scalability.
2. Maintain and tune database performance, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
3. Collaborate with engineers, QA, and DevOps to streamline data flow and reliability.
4. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues.
5. Support data integration and migration efforts across environments.
6. Contribute to establishing best practices and maintaining high coding standards for data integrity and reliability.

Must Have Skills

• +2 years of experience in database engineering focusing on PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing complex relational database systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Experience with schema design for scalable and maintainable systems.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver with minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding of data integrity, backups, and replication strategies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices related to database change management.
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with other databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with cloud services like AWS RDS or GCP Cloud SQL.
• Knowledge of data migration techniques.
• Experience supporting backend services in Java or other modern stacks.
• Exposure to DevOps practices (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with technologies like sqitch, pgtaps, dbt, metaplane, AWS Glue.
