Postdoctoral Fellowship in Immunology and Pulmonary Research (FAPESP-funded)

Project Summary:

The project investigates the immunological mechanisms involved in the exacerbation of asthma in menopausal women, aiming to better understand disease progression in this population and identify potential therapeutic targets.

Candidate Requirements:

Applicants must hold a degree in Biomedicine, Biology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related fields. Preferred qualifications include postgraduate training (MSc and/or PhD) in Immunology, Cell Biology, or Molecular Biology. The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and flow cytometry;
  • Preferably, prior experience with experimental models involving laboratory animals.

Selection Process and Initial Training:

Before the fellowship officially begins, the selected candidate will be required to complete a voluntary, unpaid training period lasting at least one month, to become familiar with the laboratory routine and demonstrate commitment, responsibility, and suitability for the proposed activities.

The postdoctoral fellowship is funded byFAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation),one of the most prominent public research funding agencies in Brazil. The fellowship includes:

  • A monthly tax-free stipend of BRL 12,000
  • A 10% annual research contingency fund, to cover project-related expenses (e.g., reagents, services, travel, publications)
  • Relocation support, if the fellow resides outside São Paulo state or abroad at the time of selection.
  • An initial duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and project progress

Location:

The position is based at the Diadema Campus of UNIFESP, located in the metropolitan area of São Paulo. The campus is near the Diadema Bus Terminal, with easy access to the ABC Paulista region (São Bernardo do Campo, Santo André) and São Paulo city, offering convenient housing and transportation options.
