We are seeking applicants for a post-doctoral fellowship funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to develop a research project, starting February 1, 2026, related to the Thematic Project entitled “Nonlinear Dynamics,” coordinated by Prof. Iberê Luiz Caldas of the University of São Paulo's Physics Institute (IF-USP)The selected candidates will conduct their research under the supervision of Prof. Elbert Macau of the Federal University of São Paulo's Institute of Science and Technology (ICT-UNIFESP), co-principal investigator of the Thematic Project. The research project will focus on dynamic phenomena in complex networks, aiming to understand the synchronization phenomena and collective behavior associated with neural systems and their critical transitions.

Applicants with a good undergraduate and graduate academic record, a doctorate in the final stages of completion (to be defended by the project start date) or completed within the last twelve months on the topic of the project in question, a history of publications also related to the project topic, experience in scientific collaborations, and a good level of English, according to the criteria established by FAPESP, are eligible for the scholarship.

The candidate must have published articles in indexed and qualified journals related to the topic, including computer simulations in complex network models, followed by mathematical/numerical analysis and interpretation of results, with an emphasis on computational neuroscience models or the use of nonlinear time series analysis methods, aiming to anticipate extreme phenomena or critical transitions and characterize system dynamics.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality.
