Offer Description

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a background in Ecology, Phenology, and Remote Sensing (land surface and near-surface phenology) who can work collaboratively. This postdoc position will be based at the São Paulo State University's Institute of Biosciences (IB-UNESP) in Rio Claro, Brazil, on a project titled: "The impact of climate variability and weather extremes on plant phenology and its implications on biodiversity." Candidates must hold a doctorate in Ecology or related fields (e.g., Remote Sensing, Plant Biology, Conservation), obtained within the last 7 years. The ideal candidate should have experience in developing scientific proposals, fluent communication and writing skills in English, and a research record demonstrated by publications. Fluency in Portuguese is important due to work in remote areas of Brazil. Requirements include the ability to organize and analyze large datasets, availability for fieldwork, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Desirable skills include experience with image processing (phenocameras, satellite), time series analysis, programming languages (R, Python), and artificial intelligence. The position is open to candidates of any nationality. The scholarship duration is 24 months, with a monthly value of R$ 12,000.00, including a 10% Technical Reserve for research expenses. Researchers outside São Paulo/Brazil are eligible for travel and installation assistance. Applications should be sent via email to patricia.morellato@unesp.br, including a CV (Curriculum Lattes or Google Scholar link), a letter of motivation/interest, and two letters of recommendation.
