The research group led by Dr. David Lapola from the Center for Meteorological and Climatic Research Applied to Agriculture of the State University of Campinas (CEPAGRI-UNICAMP, São Paulo state, Brazil) offers one post-doctoral position with a fellowship funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the Thematic Project “AmazonFACE: Assessing the Effects of Elevated Atmospheric CO2 on Amazon Forest Ecology.” The project investigates how elevated CO2 (eCO2) affects plant-soil-microorganism interactions in a mature Amazon rainforest.

The position is jointly based at UNICAMPand the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA), supervised by Dr. Sara Adrián Andrade (UNICAMP) and Dr. Lucia Fuchslueger (University of Vienna), with collaboration from INPA, the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), and Utrecht University. The selected candidate will lead research on how eCO2 influences microbial communities and processes, as well as plant nutritional strategies such as mycorrhizal associations and root exudation.

Requirements:

PhD in relevant areas; experience in field/lab work, bioinformatics, and microbiome/metabolism analysis; strong knowledge in microbial ecology and ecosystem functioning; publication record; fluency in Portuguese and English is desirable.

Fellowship:

R$ 12,000/month + 10% for research-related expenses; duration: 24 months, renewable.
