Offer Description

Hosted by the Department of Biology, Ribeirão Preto Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Sciences, University of São Paulo (Brazil), the AmazonFACE program is an open-air CO2 enrichment experiment in a mature and highly biodiverse tropical forest. We are seeking a motivated post-doctoral fellow to research Functional Ecology and Ecosystem Processes. The successful candidate will focus on plant responses to elevated CO2 and key aspects of ecophysiology to advance our understanding of the Amazon’s response to global change.

Responsibilities: Conduct ecophysiological measurements (hydraulic functional attributes and stomatal conductance); develop research in functional ecology; collaborate with different AmazonFACE research areas; present results at scientific meetings; write reports and manuscripts for publication in high-quality scientific journals; collaborate with and mentor students; contribute to a positive work environment.

Requirements: PhD in biology or related field; experience in fieldwork, data collection and processing, and laboratory analyses; solid understanding of concepts in plant ecophysiology and ecosystem ecology; ability to work in interdisciplinary teams; proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
