Offer Description

A post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular and Chemical Ecology is available at the Laboratory of Chemical Ecology and Insect Behavior , Department of Entomology and Acarology, Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (ESALQ-USP).

Goals:

i) Investigating how different rhizobacterial species influence the volatile organic compound (VOC) profiles of tomato plants;

ii) Evaluating the impact of rhizobacteria on the attractiveness of natural enemies;

iii) Producing and testing mutant tomato lines for their performance and attractiveness to natural enemies.

Requirements:

i) PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Entomology, or related fields;

ii) Solid experience in Molecular Biology and the generation of mutant plants;

iii) Experience with bioassays and plant volatile collection systems;

iv) Knowledge of Gas Chromatography (GC-FID and GC-MS);

v) Previous experience with plant–herbivore–microorganism interactions;

vi) Data analysis skills.

Application:

The position is for an initial period of 12 months, renewable for an additional 12 months depending on the candidate’s performance. The opportunity is open to Brazilian and international applicants.

The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
