As part of their activities, the fellow will carry out a project involving the production of biocellulose membranes for the development of an adhesive for stabilization and sustained/controlled release of antibacterial drugs and in vivo testing using Zophobas morio and Balb/c mouse models for the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections.

Candidates must have experience and publications in the following methodological approaches: 1) Production of bacterial cellulose and maintenance of microorganism viability; 2) Surface chemical modifications of bacterial cellulose membranes for functionalization with antibacterials; 3) In vitro microbiological tests to determine microbial growth inhibitory activity and the minimum inhibitory concentration for bacterial growth inhibition; 4) Physicochemical characterizations by FTIR and elemental analysis; 5) Use of an in vivo model of Zophobas morio and Balb/c mice; 6) Production of adhesive biopolymeric dressings for drug delivery.

Candidates must have a doctorate degree obtained within the last seven years, either in Brazil or abroad, preferably in the field of Biotechnology.

The position is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) worth R$ 12,000.00 per month for 24 months, and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
