AstraZeneca plc in Brazil seeks an experienced Onc ology Business Unit Director to lead strategic direction and end-to-end commercial execution for the oncology portfolio. You will unite cross-functional teams and sharpen customer engagement to accelerate access and adoption of innovations.

The role reports to the Country President, shaping priorities, building capability, and delivering measurable business outcomes that matter for patients and the healthcare system.

Qualificações

  • Degree in business, life sciences, pharmacy or a related discipline.
  • Significant commercial leadership experience in pharma or biotech.
  • Strong track record in sales/marketing leadership with accountability for performance.
  • Ability to develop and execute commercial strategy in a complex matrix.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams.

  • Lead the Oncology Business Unit in Brazil with full accountability for strategic direction, commercial execution and portfolio performance.
  • Define and deploy oncology vision and strategy aligned to portfolio priorities and enterprise objectives.
  • Own sales and marketing strategy, integrate brand strategy and omnichannel engagement.
  • Deliver growth through market share expansion and lifecycle execution.
  • Lead launches with cross-functional readiness across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory and Supply.

As Oncology Business Unit Director for Brazil, you will set the strategic direction and lead the end-to-end commercial agenda across our oncology portfolio. You will unite cross-functional teams, sharpen customer engagement, and execute our pipeline with precision—so clinicians can access innovations faster and more patients benefit sooner.

Reporting to the Country President, you will serve as a visible enterprise leader, shaping priorities, building capability and delivering business outcomes that matter.

Accountabilities:
  • Business Unit Leadership: Lead the Oncology Business Unit in Brazil with full accountability for strategic direction, commercial execution and portfolio performance.
  • Oncology Strategy for Brazil: Define and deploy a clear oncology vision and strategy, aligning short-, medium- and long-term plans to portfolio priorities, competitive dynamics, customer needs and enterprise objectives.
  • Sales and Marketing Ownership: Own the sales and marketing strategy, integrating brand strategy, field execution, omnichannel engagement and customer experience to drive adoption and adherence.
  • Growth and Market Presence: Deliver sustainable growth through market share expansion, resource optimization and executional excellence across the product lifecycle.
  • Launch Excellence: Lead preparation and execution for key product and indication launches, ensuring cross-functional readiness across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Diagnostics and Supply.
  • Data-Driven Planning: Translate scientific data, market developments and competitor activity into differentiated commercial plans, including lifecycle strategies tailored to Brazil’s environment.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Build tight alignment with Medical, Market Access, Diagnostics, Finance, HR, Data and Digital, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance and Corporate Affairs to execute must-win priorities.
  • Digital and AI-Enabled Capabilities: Accelerate AI, digital and data-enabled commercial capabilities to strengthen customer engagement, insight generation and decision-making.
  • Performance Management: Lead performance management, including revenue delivery, market share, forecasting, resource prioritization, budget discipline and business reviews.
  • Financial Stewardship: Own financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, investment choices and, where applicable, broader P&L responsibility.
  • Leadership and Talent: Build, develop and directly lead senior sales, marketing and commercial capability leaders; strengthen the oncology talent bench and succession pipeline.
  • Culture and Ways of Working: Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and inclusion to equip the organization to deliver through complexity and change.
  • External Representation: Represent the oncology business with external stakeholders including healthcare professionals, hospital stakeholders, professional societies, patient advocacy groups and other partners.
  • Enterprise Contribution: Contribute as a senior leader to the broader country leadership agenda, identifying cross-business synergies and shaping organizational performance and culture.
Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Degree in business, life sciences, pharmacy or a related discipline
  • Significant commercial leadership experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or specialty healthcare industry
  • Strong track record in sales and marketing leadership with accountability for business performance
  • Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategy in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority
  • Strong understanding of the oncology market, including customer pathways, competition and access dynamics
  • Experience in forecasting, financial planning, budget management and performance tracking
  • Strong executive communication, strategic thinking and decision-making capability
  • Ability to lead organizational change, build capability and develop high-performing teams
Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Experience leading major pipeline launches or market-shaping oncology initiatives
  • Established external reputation within the oncology sector and industry networks
  • Experience accelerating AI, digital and omnichannel commercial transformation
  • Deep experience with the Brazilian oncology landscape, including access, policy and diagnostic partnerships
  • Portuguese and English fluency at an executive level
