Since December 2015, SPDM/PAIS has been responsible, in partnership with the Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro, for managing the Hospital Municipal Pedro II.

The hospital infrastructure includes ten floors with emergency services, adult, pediatric, and neonatal Intensive Care Units (ICUs), maternity, medical clinic, general and maxillofacial surgery, neurosurgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, and orthopedics. Imaging exams (X-ray, CT, ultrasound, ECG, echocardiography) and laboratory tests are also conducted.

Given the large elderly population in the West Zone served by the hospital, there are two wards dedicated to this demographic. The Burn Treatment Center is another feature offering an exclusive ICU to prevent infections, which can be severe for burn patients.

The facility also includes the Regional Emergency Coordination (CER) Santa Cruz, with 39 beds, aimed at handling less complex cases to free up the hospital for urgent, high-risk, or surgical cases. A unique aspect of this CER is its specialized Psychiatry and Obstetrics services.

Responsibilities and duties

• Diagnose and monitor patients with mental disorders.
• Coordinate resources to provide individualized care strategies at each treatment phase.
• Support teams and professionals through ongoing education and matrix support tools.

Requirements and qualifications

• Complete higher education in Medicine.
• Residency or Specialist Title in Psychiatry.
• Active registration with the professional council.
• Minimum of 6 months proven experience as a Psychiatrist.

• Work hours: 12 or 24 hours per week.
