In 2023 we started our South America operation, and we are looking for talented and engaged professionals who want to embark on this journey with us.
Main responsibilities:
Consolidated Tasks for 1.5-Level Support in the Mainframe Area.
1. User and System Access
• User Management:
o Creating and editing user accounts, particularly using security solutions like RACF.
2. Monitoring and Troubleshooting
• Job Monitoring:
o Checking the status of jobs (e.g., with BETA92 or TWCP), identifying and partially resolving blocked or failed jobs.
o Interpreting and performing initial troubleshooting for common ABEND codes and return codes, such as S0C4 or S0C7 for example.
• JCL Troubleshooting:
o Analyzing and correcting basic JCL errors, especially misconfigured job scripts.
o Adjusting job control statements (e.g., JOB, EXEC, DD) for common errors.
• Ticket Handling:
o Creating and managing service tickets, documenting issues, and escalating to 3rd Level Support if deeper analysis is required.
• Dialogue monitoring:
o Validating the functionality of dialogbased applications (using e.g. CICS or IMS)
• Queue and transaction monitoring:
o Monitoring queues for overflow and stuck messages
o Validating the status of transactions and programs
3. Resource Management and System Monitoring
• System Resource Monitoring:
o Checking and optimizing resources like CPU, memory, and I/O using tools like Icinga/Thruk (Nagios).
o Handling issues caused by resource bottlenecks without requiring deep system-level interventions.
4. Application and Infrastructure Support
• Application Issues:
o Supporting the use of mainframe applications, handling simple inquiries regarding batch processes, dialogue-displays, reports, or standard programs.
o Resolving issues related to the use of DB2 and other mainframe databases or applications, without the need for deep technical interventions typically requiring 2nd-Level analysis.
• Database Issues:
o Investigating and performing basic troubleshooting for DB2 or other databases, primarily in connection with common application errors.
5. Complexe Troubleshooting
• Job Rescheduling and Restart:
o Restarting failed jobs and adjusting job control statements, especially for common error causes such as incorrect input data or resource conflicts.
6. Proactive Maintenance
• Performing regular maintenance tasks, such as system optimization and routine software updates, without deep system-level changes or interventions.
Experience required:
• +3 years Mainframeoperations

• Logfile Handling
• Erfahrung ITSM Prozesse
• ITIL Zertifizierung
Education:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering.
Qualification:
• German proficiency (Speak, Read, Write) - B2, C1 or C2.
• English - B1, B2, C1 or C2
• Preferable certification from IBM mainframe platforms, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 and other simmilar ones
Hiring CLT, hybrid or remote working model.
