About the Job

Memory Ware is seeking a Level Designer to craft engaging, narrative-driven environments for our JRPG-inspired projects. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to develop exploration maps, combat encounters, and narrative set-pieces that enhance player experience.

Responsibilities

1. Design and block out interior and exterior 3D spaces focusing on layout, flow, and sightlines.
2. Create levels that integrate gameplay mechanics with narrative elements.
3. Collaborate with art and narrative teams to ensure cohesive game environments.
4. Use Unity to prototype and iterate level designs.
5. Document level designs with clear guidelines for the team.

Qualifications

1. Experience designing exploration, narrative, or tactical game levels.
2. Strong understanding of space, flow, and pacing in level design.
3. Proficiency in Unity for level prototyping.
4. Empathy for player experience, especially in exploration and storytelling.
5. Knowledge of JRPG structures like dungeon design and pacing.

Preferred Skills

1. Experience with turn-based combat spaces.
2. Understanding of environmental storytelling and spatial narrative.
3. Technical skills in camera scripting, triggers, or modular assets.
4. Passion for games blending mechanical depth with emotional storytelling.
