About the role

Memory Ware is seeking a talented Level Designer to craft immersive, narrative-driven environments for our JRPG-inspired projects. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to design exploration maps, combat encounters, and narrative set-pieces that enhance player experience through pacing, flow, and readability.

Responsibilities

1. Design and block out exterior and interior 3D spaces focusing on layout, sightlines, and gameplay flow.
2. Create engaging levels that integrate gameplay mechanics with narrative elements.
3. Collaborate with art and narrative teams to ensure cohesive game experiences.
4. Use Unity and other tools to prototype and iterate level designs.
5. Document level designs and provide clear guidelines for development.

Qualifications

1. Experience designing exploration, narrative, or tactical levels.
2. Strong sense of space, flow, and pacing in level design.
3. Proficiency in Unity for level prototyping and iteration.
4. Empathy for player experience, especially in exploration and storytelling.
5. Understanding of JRPG structures like dungeon design and pacing.

Preferred Skills

1. Experience with turn-based combat space design.
2. Knowledge of environmental storytelling and visual composition.
3. Technical skills in camera scripting, triggers, or modular assets.
4. Passion for games blending mechanics with emotional narratives.
