Qualificações

The location in Montreal , ( Quebec , Canada ), is seeking talent to fill the position of Legal counsel . This job is full-time permanent .

Reporting into the Vice-President, Legal Affairs – Pulp & Tissue, you will assist all business units of Domtar with respect to real estate matters in Canada and the US, including assisting with the preparation of business cases for the approval of land sales. You will also provide support for cost management and budgeting of real estate projects. You will support in-house attorneys on real estate matters for three business units, assist with real estate issues in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, and engage with internal and external stakeholders in Canada and the US.

  • Prepare and maintain an inventory of all properties in Canada and US for the 3 business units.
  • Be the first point of contact and respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders (citizens, cities, others) relating to lands (sale, granting of rights).
  • Establish a process for the disposition of real property which considers the various stakeholders concerns and work with the business to explain and publicize the process.
  • Provide support to the business units relating to the preparation of business cases for the approval of the sale of real property.
  • Provide instructions to valuators, surveyors, notaries/lawyers and other professionals with respect to the sale of, or granting of rights on, real property.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for the sale or granting of rights on real property and establish agreements with third parties for the payment of Domtar's related costs and expenses.
  • Ability to prioritize, rigorous work ethic, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, ability to take initiative, find creative solutions and work independently.
  • Customer focused and ability to work with various internal stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.

Your profile:

  • Bilingual French and English (Required for all Corporate Positions)*
  • Bachelor’s degree in law with an accredited law school and admitted into a provincial bar.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role with a focus in real estate.
