Legal Counsel

Contract Type: Permanent

ADB SAFEGATE’s functional teams are vital in driving innovation and ensuring operational excellence across the organization.

The Legal Counsel for APAC will provide legal advice across various jurisdictions in the APAC region, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks. This role requires expertise in cross-border legal matters, corporate governance, and business operations within APAC.

The Opportunity

1. Contract Review and Legal Advisory: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and construction agreements, tender conditions, sales/services/supply agreements, partnership agreements, NDAs. Ensure contracts comply with local laws and company policies.
2. Compliance & Regulatory: Monitor changes in laws and regulations across APAC, ensure company policies and operations remain compliant, and adhere to programs related to anti-corruption, data protection, and competition laws. Provide strategic legal advice on complex commercial, regulatory, and corporate matters. Advise stakeholders on legal risks and compliance issues.
3. Dispute Management: Manage ongoing disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation across APAC. Collaborate with external counsel as needed.
4. Corporate Governance: Support corporate governance matters such as board resolutions, shareholder agreements, and secretarial tasks, ensuring compliance with local laws.
5. Training & Education: Conduct legal training for internal teams on compliance, contract negotiation, and regulatory updates. Promote awareness of legal risks and compliance importance.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with departments like Finance, Sales, HR, Marketing, and Operations to provide legal guidance on business initiatives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law (LLB or equivalent); LLM or additional qualifications are a plus.
• 8-9 years of professional experience, focusing on commercial and/or construction law.
• Experience in international law firms is a strong advantage.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin.
• Strong reliability, accuracy, organization, and punctuality.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work autonomously and in teams.
• Open-minded, curious, and dynamic personality.
