We are hiring a Lead Golang Software Engineer at any seniority level, who values engineering quality, seeks improvements, develops skills, and applies them at work. This role offers the chance to work with popular software systems, integration technologies, and open-source solutions.

The Commercial Systems unit consists of seven engineering teams collaborating closely with other teams. Services developed by this unit are core to Canonical's business, with Golang playing an integral role. We are looking for engineers for these teams:

• Billing team: Develops a Golang service for metrics-based billing, customer spend visibility, and integration with payment systems. Ideal for engineers interested in billing and payment processing.
• Contracts team: Creates a Golang service for managing customer contracts, integrating with CRM and accounting systems. Suitable for those interested in sales and revenue processes.
• Livepatch team: Builds a service for delivering Linux kernel patches to address vulnerabilities, focusing on security and reliability.
• Ubuntu Pro backend team: Develops backend services for Ubuntu Pro, emphasizing software security, performance, and operational reliability.

Location: Remote in EMEA (except Ubuntu Pro) or AMER (Ubuntu Pro).

Role responsibilities include:

• Developing solutions using Golang
• Leading design, reviews, and implementation
• Deploying and operating services
• Mentoring colleagues and promoting best practices

Candidate requirements:

• Strong academic background from high school and university or equivalent experience
• Degree in a technical field or relevant experience
• Proven track record of exceeding expectations
• Experience with Golang development
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills
• Result-driven with a personal commitment to deadlines
• Willing to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience in performance engineering and security
• Experience in business roles like accounting or sales
