Wabtec Corporation in Brazil is seeking a Mechanical Drives Engineer to lead concept development, detail design, and validation for locomotive and mining vehicle applications. You will collaborate with a global cross-functional team and interact with internal and external customers to address challenges and deliver reliable products.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on experience in mechanical structures, seals on mobile equipment, and FEA or bearing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical structures engineering.
• Experience with mechanical structures, seals on mobile equipment, in rail and/or mining industries.
• Experience with either FEA or bearing calculations (experience in both is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development, detail design, and validation for locomotive and mining applications.
• Collaborate with a global cross-functional team and stakeholders.
• Develop assembly methods and monitoring instructions; communicate status and issues.
• Perform fatigue evaluation and life predictions; weld evaluation as needed.
• Support Sourcing with vendor qualifications and validation testing.
• Assist factory in issue resolution and build quality verification.

Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Mechanical Drives team maintains deep domain expertise related to Locomotive wheels, axles, gears & gearcases, Off-Highway Vehicle transmission assemblies, bearings, seals, and lubricants. Here you’ll interact with various internal and external customers on a global team of engineers that work together to address real word challenges, create customer specific solutions, and develop innovative & reliable products.

How will you make a difference?

The Mechanical Drives Engineer will collaborate with a global cross functional team to lead concept development, detail design, and validation for both Locomotive applications as well as Off-Highway Vehicles used in the Mining Industry.

What do we want to know about you?

• Bachelor's degree fromin Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical structures engineering.
• Experience with mechanical structures, seals on mobile equipment, in rail and/or mining industries.
• Experience with either FEA or bearing calculations (experience in both is a plus).

What will your typical day look like?

• Mechanical structure (seals, gearcases, wheels, axles, shafts, gears, castings, bearings, housings) design, analysis, and validation leadingdetailed design reviews with internal and/or external stakeholders.
• Developingand preparing instructions for assembly methods and constraints monitoringand communicating project status, business issues, and significant developments.
• Fatigueevaluation and life predictions – parent material SN curves, weld evaluation, etc.
• Supportthe Sourcing function in development and execution of strategic Sourcing initiatives including vendor qualifications and validation testing.
• Supportfactory for equipment builds issue resolution & build quality verification.
• Provideroot cause analysis interfacing with leadership and customer.
• Execute service productivity projects, evaluating performance versus cost trade-offs.
• You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
