Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. in Brazil seeks a Lead Data Engineer to architect and scale the data platform supporting the UCC reporting stack. You will lead data modeling, schema updates, and migrations while ensuring reliability and performance across OLTP and OLAP workloads.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data engineering, leadership experience, hands-on PostgreSQL at scale, StarRocks or similar, and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, with leadership exposure.
• Hands-on work with PostgreSQL at scale and OLAP/analytics systems.
• Experience with StarRocks or similar columnar analytics DBs.
• Deep familiarity with OLAP technologies, including StarRocks.
• Background in data warehousing principles and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin or Golang.
• Experience with AWS Aurora for scalable relational databases.
• Knowledge of data modeling practices that support dependable and efficient data structures.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Unix-based environments (Linux).
• Familiarity with Kafka and ETL/ELT workflows.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and improve data modeling across OLTP and OLAP environments.
• Plan schema updates, backfills, and large migrations with minimal downtime.
• Fine-tune queries and optimize storage for transactional and analytical workloads.
• Propose and drive architectural enhancements to scale analytics platforms.
• Lead and mentor teammates; collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
