You will own the close, manage complex journal entries and reconciliations, and ensure US GAAP compliance while guiding staff to improve accuracy. The position emphasizes audit readiness and process improvement with AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifikationen

• 6+ years of accounting experience with hands-on ownership of the month-end close.
• Experience reviewing or guiding other accountants' work, formally or informally.
• US GAAP, CPC, or IFRS experience with exposure to US/UK/Canada/Australia.
• Confidence handling complex reconciliations and non-routine accounting issues.
• Experience with a major ERP or accounting system (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, Xero).
• Strong written and spoken English for daily work with US teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification.

The Role

We are seeking a Lead Accountant to run the close and raise the quality of the accounting work around you at a high-growth US company, working remotely from Brazil.

You will stay hands-on with the most complex entries and reconciliations while reviewing the work of other accountants and keeping the close on schedule. You will report progress, risks, and conclusions directly to the Controller and US finance leadership.

What You'll Own

• The close. Lead month-end and year-end close activities, monitoring progress, clearing blockers, and holding deadlines.
• Complex accounting. Own complex journal entries, reconciliations, and non-routine transactions, and document conclusions for Controller sign-off.
• Review. Review the work of staff and senior accountants, giving clear feedback that reduces repeat errors.
• Financial statements. Maintain accurate financial statements under US GAAP and explain material variances.
• Audit and controls. Prepare PBC schedules, support auditor requests, and fix control gaps in recurring workflows.
• Process improvement. Improve SOPs, checklists, and review processes, including where AI and automation can help.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of the month-end close
• Experience reviewing or guiding other accountants' work, formally or informally
• US GAAP, CPC, or IFRS experience, with substantial exposure to clients or entities in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia
• Confidence handling complex reconciliations and non-routine accounting issues
• Experience with a major ERP or accounting system, such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Xero
• Strong written and spoken English for daily work with US teams
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification

Preferred

• Experience using AI tools in accounting workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output
• Multi-entity or intercompany accounting experience
• Big 4 or public accounting experience followed by industry experience
• Experience at a venture-backed or PE-backed company

Work Arrangement

This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
