Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Informix Migration Consultant to lead the assessment and modernization of a mission-critical legacy system built on Informix database and 4GL applications. The ideal candidate will conduct a thorough analysis, define a migration strategy, and develop a roadmap to transition to a modern, scalable solution while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform a comprehensive audit of existing Informix databases and 4GL applications, documenting architecture, dependencies, and business logic.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to capture new system requirements, including security, scalability, performance, and reliability needs.

• Research and recommend modern database and application solutions to replace the legacy Informix environment.

• Develop a detailed migration plan, including risk assessment, phased execution, and rollback strategies.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team throughout the migration process.

• Ensure data integrity, application functionality, and performance optimization post-migration.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

• Expert-level knowledge of IBM Informix (database administration, SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning).

• Deep experience with Informix 4GL (development, debugging, and modernization).

• Proven track record in migrating Informix-based systems to modern platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or cloud-native databases).

• Strong understanding of database migration tools and methodologies.

• Ability to analyze legacy code, identify inefficiencies, and recommend optimization strategies.

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
