Job Description:

The Airbus Legal & Compliance organisation is being reinforced with this aim in mind, and relies on a talented and diverse network of legal and compliance professionals across the different regions and entities of the group for its effective implementation.
Airbus is now recruiting a Head of Legal & Compliance Latin America & the Caribbean (“LATAM”). The general purpose of the position is to provide close legal, ethics & compliance and export control support to the local business and manage a talented team of lawyers and compliance specialists in the LATAM region.
Main Activities
● Actively promote and defend the legal interests of Airbus LATAM and advise its management on important legal and compliance (including export control) matters;
● Act as an embedded partner supporting the business operations of Airbus LATAM working closely with the regional head of LATAM within the International, organization (I) and help them achieve their objectives while being involved from start to finish in relevant matters related to legal and compliance;
● Closely liaise and coordinate with specialized teams of the Airbus Legal & Compliance department at HQ or the Divisions in order to ensure a seamless and efficient coordination and interaction on all matters relevant for LATAM
● Lead the L&C team of 10 members in the region and build a harmonious team to support the region holistically.
Responsibilities
● Work with business stakeholders (including senior management) to identify, assess and mitigate legal implications and potential risks to the business.
● Supporting the divisional legal, compliance and export control teams in drafting, vetting, negotiating agreements, with customers, suppliers, or industrial cooperation partners. Potential claim management and dispute resolution in close coordination with the relevant function and L subject matter experts.
● Monitoring and supporting any corporate activities and governance matters for entities across the region (Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia) in partnership with divisional legal & affiliate governance teams.
● Implement, monitor and continuously improve application of Airbus’s compliance and export control programs across LATAM and ensure that compliance and export control is part of the standard business processes in line with Airbus’ overall rules and policies;
● Foster a strong speak-up and listen-up culture to avoid/mitigate compliance risks.
● Support compliance risk management, training/communication and handling of compliance allegations for Airbus LATAM in close coordination with Airbus’ Ethics & Compliance organization.
● Coordinate and work and foster the ECR, EPOC network understanding the local risks and issues to further and consolidate L’s support to the region.
● Drafting, vetting, negotiating various strategic and non-strategic commercial agreements, with either domestic or international customers, suppliers, or industrial cooperation partners.
● Provide legal support for M&A transactions and corporate restructurings in close coordination with the divisions.
● Implement, monitor and continuously improve Airbus LATAM’s compliance system and ensure that compliance is part of the standard business processes in line with Airbus’ overall rules and policies;
● Ensure compliance risk management, training/communication and handling of compliance allegations for Airbus LATAM in close coordination with Airbus’ Ethics & Compliance organisation.
Requirements
● Qualified lawyer combining solid academic background and practical experience in business law and compliance matters.
● 15-18 years of professional experience (acquired in law firms and/or in the industry, preferably in the aerospace or defence business and LATAM region).
● Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in Spanish and English. Fluency in Portuguese is also ideal though not mandatory.
● Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, respond quickly to urgent matters and execute proactively.
● Ability to work independently and to manage a dynamic workload under deadline pressure.
● Solid understanding of the business environment and the ability to provide high- quality legal advice with a view on finding pragmatic solutions for the business.
● Integrity, and strong sense of business ethics.
The jobholder is part of the Legal & Compliance International organization (LY) and is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The jobholder will manage a local team in LATAM
composed of a small number of lawyers and Compliance specialists in Brazil and Mexico.
