Major Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer II
- Provide installation support, maintenance, and repair on 2-3 groups of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and/or refrigeration instruments.
- Receive mentoring/ride-along from team members as required to achieve full competency on trained instruments.
- Support the company in achieving strategic goals and financial targets.
- Communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external customers within established time guidelines to meet customer expectations.
- Document and complete service administration activities in a timely manner to comply with local and Leica policies.
- Support service contracts, and assist sales representatives and service team members with system configurations and upgrades.
- Provide input on improving field service processes to increase performance and exceed customer expectations.
- Manage spare parts responsibly to maximize customer uptime and field service metrics.
- Control expenses to maximize profit contribution.
- Represent the company professionally to build confidence with current and prospective customers of Leica products, achieving high customer satisfaction.
- Identify root causes of customer frustrations and understand their needs.
- Lead and escalate technical issues to resolve customer complaints.
- Provide additional technical support as needed.
- Support and influence the Customer NPS Score.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Technical Degree in mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electronic fields.
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent technical work experience.
- Must have CFT or active CREA certification.
Years of Experience
3-5 years of experience diagnosing and repairing medical devices, mechanical, electromechanical, electronic equipment, and scientific instruments, demonstrating strong technical acumen, analytical skills, and efficient time management during service calls.

- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Other Relevant Information
- Travel: +70-90%, frequent overnight travel, flexible schedule, often with short notice. Occasional international travel required.
- Driver’s license: Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet fleet eligibility requirements.
- Languages: Portuguese and English (Advanced).
