NOV is seeking an experienced MPD Systems Engineer to provide expert technical support for monitoring, control, and automation of MPD systems in Brazil. You will troubleshoot complex MPD issues, analyze performance data, and guide operations to reduce non-productive time while coordinating with engineering, product management, and operations teams.

The role involves onshore and offshore support, system integration, and contributing to ongoing product improvements, with emphasis on safety, HSE

Qualificações

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with drilling operations and MPD systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of drilling hydraulics, pressure management, and well control.

Responsabilidades

  • Serve as a technical expert for NOV MPD systems, including monitoring, control, and automation.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for MPD issues as escalation point.
  • Analyze MPD performance, pressure data, and trends to reduce NPT.
  • Review configurations and procedures to support MPD operations planning.
  • Assist in detection and resolution of pressure events using real-time tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations for MPD enhancements.
  • Contribute to development of MPD equipment, software, and EKLD capabilities.
  • Support system integration activities involving MPD equipment and automation.
  • Review field data to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Provide input for documentation, training materials, and best practices.
  • Perform competitive and technical analysis of MPD technologies and industry practices.
  • Comply with NOV policies and HSE requirements.
  • Onshore and offshore support to drilling operations with MPD.
  • Technical support and execution for repair of MPD equipment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical expert for NOV MPD systems, including monitoring, control, and integrated automation solutions.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex MPD-related issues, acting as an escalation point for Tier 2 personnel and customers.
  • Analyze MPD system performance, pressure data, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce non-productive time (NPT).
  • Support planning and execution of MPD operations by reviewing system configurations, operational procedures, and pressure management strategies.
  • Assist in the detection, analysis, and resolution of pressure events, including kicks, losses, and abnormal well behavior, using real-time monitoring tools and system diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to support MPD product enhancements, system integration, and performance optimization.
  • Contribute to development and improvement of MPD equipment, software, and control systems, including early kick and loss detection (EKLD) capabilities.
  • Support system integration activities involving MPD equipment, rig control systems, and automation platforms.
  • Review field feedback and operational data to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical input for documentation, procedures, training materials, and best practices related to MPD operations.
  • Perform competitive and technical analysis of MPD technologies, systems, and industry practices.

Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant experience in drilling operations, MPD systems including Operating the system, well control, rig automation, or related oilfield technologies.
  • Working knowledge of drilling hydraulics, pressure management concepts, and well control principles.
  • Experience supporting or working with MPD equipment, control systems, or real-time monitoring systems preferred.
  • Strong technical analysis, troubleshooting, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and instrumentation drawings.
  • Comfortable working across multidisciplinary technical areas, including drilling operations, automation, and control systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multinational teams across multiple time zones.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with customers, operations personnel, and internal technical teams in both portuguese and english.
Preferred Skills & Competencies (optional But Recommended)
  • Experience with integrated MPD systems, automated drilling controls, or real-time drilling optimization tools.
  • Familiarity with early kick and loss detection (EKLD) systems.
  • Offshore or rig-site experience supporting drilling or pressure control operations.
  • Understanding of MPD specialty equipment such as rotating control devices (RCD/ACD), choke manifolds, flow measurement systems, and pressure control hardware.
