Responsibilities

• Drive Process Engineering projects in the cluster/site from idea to operational ramp‑up.
• Provide input and suggestions to local cluster management and set priorities with internal customers.
• Support dust reduction and health‑safety (HS) campaigns.
• Define specifications and estimate process parameters to enable the most suitable Project Delivery Model.
• Support evaluation of technical and economic feasibility of projects.
• Organise trials (lab and/or industrial) and use simulation software to develop block flow diagrams and process flow sheets.
• Initiate project cost estimation, assessing a preliminary order of magnitude on the defined scope.
• Support project planning and execution, including commissioning and transfer to line operators.
• Write manuals and instructions on process equipment and ensure quality control throughout project delivery.
• Design new, innovative minerals and materials processes, and adapt existing ones to improve efficiency, safety, sustainability and cost‑efficiency.
• Conduct technical and/or operational ad‑hoc audits in accordance with Sibelco Process Audit Guidelines.
• Evaluate processes and identify unnecessary complexities or flaws; analyse technical equipment, quality/production data, and operational data.
• Troubleshoot process issues and support installation of control systems, sketching suitable control philosophies.
• Provide recommendations in clear audit reports and support production sites to promote operational excellence and safe, efficient, innovative, scalable and sustainable operations.
• Assist with production issues or customer complaints and advise other departments on maximizing efficiency of existing installations.
• Assist in cross‑departmental initiatives such as:
  • T&I: industrialise solutions and assist in long‑term developments.
  • Sustainability: assist in alternative energy or CO₂ reduction projects.
  • Health & Safety: assist in HS campaigns throughout OPS.
  • Procurement: assist during technical assessment of alternative suppliers.
• Lead or participate in activities related to the Operational Excellence (OpEx) program, researching and developing new cost‑effective solutions.
• Stay up‑to‑date with new process engineering technologies and industry innovations.
• Participate in project reviews to implement lessons learned in subsequent projects.
• Act as a change agent for the OpEx cluster transformation and train the Operations team in the OpEx handbook, tools and techniques.
• Drive specific OpEx projects, support OEE performance dialogues, and use problem‑solving matrix tools.
• Promote, lead or participate in problem‑solving sessions, idea‑generation workshops and Kaizen events.
• Be an active user of Lean and Six Sigma tools and perform Overall Process Efficiency (OPE) observations.
• Share knowledge and good practices with peers and stakeholders through proper reporting in the relevant system.
• Act as project manager in the cluster following project lifecycle management, approval processes and engineering handbooks.
• Ensure the right connection between internal project stakeholders and external engineering processes, estimating and requiring support from global engineering.
