Qualificações

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on R&D, product improvement or projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Desirable experience with FEA tools and modeling.
  • Experience with manufacturing and materials knowledge and failure analysis.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; ability to write technical reports.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.

Responsabilidades

  • Drive R&D and product improvement for HPGR and Stirred Mills equipment, dedicating most time to advancing product engineering and next-generation solutions.
  • Oversee design works in standard product development and delivery projects, ensuring engineering, quality, cost, and schedule requirements are met.
  • Perform structural analysis to validate safe and optimal function of equipment.
  • Develop scope of work and prepare mechanical drawings using CAD to optimize process performance, fabrication, inventory, construction and installation.
  • Collaborate with Product Lines and management to establish engineering design guidelines and standards for upgrades, retrofits, and refurbishments.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to team members.
  • Travel to customer sites and offices (quarterly, 1-2 weeks per trip) to assess constraints, support troubleshooting, and participate in development meetings across the Americas.

INTRODUCTION

Join Metso's Product Engineering team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and help shape the future of mining technology. You'll lead research and development for High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) and Stirred Mills equipment, an energy-efficient technology that’s replacing outdated grinding methods worldwide. This role puts you at the forefront of a mining revolution, working with a passionate, global team of specialists across the Americas and Europe who collaborate daily with colleagues in Brazil, India, China, Australia, and Switzerland. You'll tackle meaningful engineering challenges that directly impact sustainability and efficiency in the global mining industry.

You'll join a global team, reporting to the Global Engineering Manager within the Grinding, Bulk and Pyro Business Line, part of Metso's rapidly growing Services Business Area.

The team works seamlessly across time zones, with particularly strong collaboration between Chile, India, Australia, Brazil, USA and others. WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Drive research and development and product improvement for HPGR & Stirred Mills equipment dedicating majority of your time to advancing product engineering and developing next-generation solutions
  • Oversee design works in standard product development and delivery projects, ensuring projects meet engineering, quality, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Perform structural analysis to validate safe and optimal function of equipment
  • Develop detailed scopes of work and prepare mechanical drawings using CAD software to optimize process performance, fabrication, inventory, construction and installation.
  • Collaborate with Product Lines and management to establish engineering design guidelines and standards for upgrades, retrofits, and refurbishments.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to team members,
  • Travel to customer sites and offices (approximately quarterly, 1-2 weeks per trip) to assess physical constraints, support technical troubleshooting, and participate in development meetings across the Americas
WHO YOU ARE
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with focus on research and development, product improvement or projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred, but other platforms acceptable)
  • Desirable experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools and modeling
  • Strong background in manufacturing and materials knowledge with experience conducting failure analysis
  • Team leadership experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with ability to create technical reports and executive summaries
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
Preferred qualifications
  • Previous experience in mining equipment, or adjacent heavy industrial machinery
  • International work experience or proven success collaborating across cultures and time zones
  • Advanced Excel skills and project management tool proficiency
