Introduction

We are seeking a Product Engineer to join the Grinding, Bulk, Pyro (GBP) Business Line in our Services Business Area. Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions for Horizontal Grinding Mills within Metso Service Engineering. The main role is to provide technical leadership and engineering support during project-specific engineering for equipment, including sizing and selecting hydraulic components, creating BOMs, drawings, schematics, calculations, and simulations to ensure system reliability. This role involves maintaining Metso’s hydraulic product portfolio and developing custom solutions while collaborating with global teams, suppliers, and customers. This position is mainly located in Sorocaba/SP, with options in Perth (Australia) or York (USA) — note that no relocation allowance is provided. Occasional travel may be required.

You will join a multicultural team of Service Engineering dedicated to Grinding Horizontal Mills. We emphasize collaboration, customer focus, and a results-oriented culture. Our team members are located across various Metso Technology centers worldwide, working together to achieve shared goals.

What you’ll do

1. Design and develop structural and mechanical systems for grinding mills and related equipment, ensuring safety, performance, and quality standards.
2. Plan and execute hydraulic design work for projects and product development.
3. Develop hydraulic solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
4. Review project scope, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
5. Create fabrication, construction, and installation drawings.
6. Establish design standards for system upgrades and refurbishments.
7. Investigate and resolve system issues, non-conformances, and deviations.
8. Support field service teams and customers with technical expertise.
9. Engage with OEM clients to understand needs and deliver tailored solutions.
10. Conduct testing, validation, and calibration of hydraulic systems.
11. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ISO, ANSI, and company policies.
12. Stay updated on hydraulic trends and segment technology to improve systems.

Who you are

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, with 5-10 years of experience.
• Skills in hydraulic system design, component sizing, pump/motor selection, piping, and pressure calculations.
• Proficiency in CAD, PLM, Autodesk, and hydraulic simulation software such as Hydrosym, Automation Studio, FluidSIM, or Simcenter Amesim.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in testing and calibration.
• Knowledge of industry codes and safety standards.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to work internationally.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a high degree of autonomy.
• Willing to travel for technical support and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with horizontal grinding mills and large-scale mining equipment.
• Background in modernization and retrofit hydraulic projects.
