What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Obtain benefit verification and necessary authorizations for all physical therapy services prior to patient arrival
- Utilize online verification systems and communicate with insurance companies to ensure accuracy of insurance eligibility
- Complete necessary patient paperwork and maintain proper appointment status settings for visits
- Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, including coordination of benefits
- Review insurance denials and rejections to determine appropriate actions for resolution
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred
- Minimum two to three years of experience in a healthcare environment, particularly in referral, front desk, or billing roles with significant insurance verification experience
- Working knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various payers
- Familiarity with government provisions and payers, as well as Coordination of Benefits
- Knowledge of commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and physical therapy benefits is a plus
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Centricity Practice Management and Centricity EMR
- Coding and billing knowledge/experience is advantageous
