Descrição da oferta de emprego

Job Description:

We are seeking an Electrical Safety Compliance Engineer to support global and LATAM certification efforts for our electrical and electromechanical systems. In this role, you will be responsible for hands‑on electrical safety evaluations, pre‑compliance testing, and support of third‑party certification activities to ensure products meet applicable North American, European, and LATAM regulatory requirements.

This position will interface closely with design engineering, quality, program management, and external agencies. You will act as a technical resource for electrical safety standards and certification activities including UL/IEC safety standards, EU LVD, and Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation requirements, supporting products from development through global market access.

Core Responsibilities

  • Electrical Safety Evaluation & Pre-Compliance Testing
    Conduct internal electrical safety evaluations including dielectric withstand (hipot), leakage current, ground continuity, and abnormal fault condition testing. Support pre‑compliance testing activities and identify design risks early to reduce certification delays and re‑test cycles;

  • Construction Review & Certification Support;

  • Perform product construction reviews and support evaluation of schematics, BOMs, critical components, grounding, insulation, and enclosure designs to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and certification requirements;

  • Global & LATAM Regulatory Compliance;

  • Support compliance efforts for UL/IEC safety standards, EU Low Voltage Directive (LVD), Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation (MD/MR), and applicable LATAM certification requirements. Assist with certification activities for products intended for North America, Europe, and LATAM markets;

  • NRTL & Certification Agency Coordination;

  • Support relationships and activities with NRTLs and certification bodies (e.g., UL, Intertek, INMETRO). Coordinate test plans, assist with issue resolution during testing, and review certification reports and technical documentation;

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration;

  • Partner with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to integrate safety and compliance requirements into product designs. Support both new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities;

  • Technical Documentation;

  • Prepare and review technical documentation including compliance reports, risk assessments, product descriptions, and certification support materials required for UL, CE, and regional certification activities;

  • Testing Support & Travel;

  • Provide hands‑on support for certification and validation testing activities as needed. Occasional travel within LATAM may be required to support regional certification efforts or inspections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field;

  • 3-6 years of experience in electrical safety, product compliance, testing, or certification‑related roles;

  • Hands‑on experience with electrical safety test equipment including hipottesters, leakage current testers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and related laboratory equipment;

  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and certification requirements including: EU Low Voltage Directive (LVD), Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation concepts, UL/IEC 61010, UL/IEC 62368-1

  • Experience working with certification agencies or test laboratories;

  • Ability to interpret standards and support compliance evaluations for electrical and electromechanical products;

  • Experience performing product risk assessments;

  • Demonstrated experience in fast‑paced engineering or product development environments;

  • Fluent English (spoken and written) required for collaboration with U.S.-based engineering teams and global certification agencies.
