LSEG Commodities Research, comprising over 100 analysts, delivers insights into physical and futures markets of commodities. Leveraging deep domain expertise, extensive data resources, and the LSEG Workspace platform, our analysts are trusted partners for commodities professionals worldwide.

We are seeking a dynamic Research Lead with modelling expertise to join our Agriculture Research Team. This role involves enhancing existing models related to global crop production, demand, and trade. The Research Lead will collaborate with Weather & Climate Research and the broader Commodity Research community, as well as engage with Sales, clients, and prospective clients to tailor content to their needs.

Role: Research Lead, Agriculture

Location: São Paulo, BRA

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in strategic decisions on Agriculture research models
2. Mentor a team of Agriculture Research analysts in modelling and promote a data-first culture aligned with business goals
3. Lead initiatives to modernize and streamline data systems and processes, including transitioning to a new cloud-based platform
4. Utilize cloud-based technologies to meet business requirements
5. Establish and enforce standards and policies ensuring compliance with data governance, regulatory requirements, and metadata management
6. Optimize model designs for scalability, efficiency, and performance
7. Collaborate across teams to understand, prioritize, and fulfill data needs, acting as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and prospects

Required Skills/Experience:

1. Experience designing, building, and maintaining Python-based models for market research in agriculture
2. Experience setting up models and data flows in cloud environments
3. Knowledge of technologies such as Databricks and Spark
4. Proactive mindset focused on end-product and user experience
5. Ability to collaborate with research analysts to develop and maintain robust, transparent models
6. Experience with platforms like GitLab, Jira, Confluence

Preferred Skills/Experience:

1. Experience in standard supply and demand analysis
2. Proficiency with Power BI
3. Passion for agriculture and agricultural markets

Qualifications:

1. Master's degree or equivalent in Data Science, Agriculture Economics, or related field
2. At least 2 years of leadership experience is a plus
