Amentum is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic IV- HVAC to join our operations & maintenance team.

Job Overview

This maintenance mechanic provides advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. The role requires decision-making capabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, compactors, and fans. Strong mechanical and electrical skills are essential, including safe work practices around 3-phase power up to 480V.

Responsibilities

1. Perform planned maintenance on building equipment, ensuring responsiveness to customer needs.
2. Troubleshoot mechanical systems such as pumps, air handlers, hydraulic systems, vacuum systems, water systems, and gas distribution systems to minimize downtime.
3. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and develop maintenance procedures.
4. Perform basic pipefitting repairs and assist in installing and inspecting new equipment.
5. Support project-related work with contractors, vendors, and team members.
6. Ensure compliance with regulations, codes, safety practices, and permit systems.
7. Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to improve energy efficiency and perform repairs.
8. Maintain a flexible schedule, demonstrating adaptability for the benefit of the customer.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• US Citizenship.
• EPA 608 Technician Certification (Universal).
• Six years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug testing.
• Ability to obtain security access badge.
• Capability to work at heights up to 30 feet or higher in aerial or scissor lifts.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Physical and Special Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs multiple times per shift.
• Flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach repeatedly.
• Ability to differentiate wire colors and perform tasks requiring wrist movement.
• Interact professionally with clients despite stress.
• Wear PPE including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
• Associate degree or technical certification in related fields preferred.
• Experience with troubleshooting industrial HVAC/R and mechanical equipment, vacuum, and water systems.
• Experience with building mechanical operation, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Knowledge of hand/power tools, refrigeration, plumbing, and CMMS systems.
