Description

• As a member of the mechanical design team, this position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams to develop mechanical physical layout drawings in 3D models.
• Engage in challenging assignments involving the design of mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and resolving a wide range of mechanical design issues.
• Use 3D modeling software tools to create mechanical design schematics.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated mechanical design model.
• Support other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely design delivery.
• Independently and collaboratively plan and execute mechanical design deliverables, including general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.
• Participate in field walkdowns and data collection at client facilities alongside engineers.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced drafters and designers in the use of drafting tools.

Work Schedule

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence 3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with relevant drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 8 years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and developing related deliverables.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams in power plant projects.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Valued but not required:

• Proficiency with MicroStation.
• Experience with Laser Scanning and Point Clouds.
