Our data centers form the foundation for AWS software and services, meeting growing customer demands. This role involves working with business development, design engineers, operations, vendors, and cross-functional teams to assess and select colocation facilities that meet business needs.

You will demonstrate expertise in data center design, engineering, and operations relevant to critical infrastructure environments. You will collaborate with internal teams and vendors to identify and resolve operational or design deficiencies that could impact site capability or availability. Additionally, you will influence standards, improve processes, and guide our global colocation data center portfolio.

We seek a strong leader with solid experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural (MEPS) infrastructure design engineering. Amazon offers a fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Conducting site assessments against AWS standards for colocation data centers and upgrades.
  2. Performing risk analysis and availability calculations for vendor infrastructure to ensure fit-for-use/fit-for-service.
  3. Influencing AWS design and specifications to meet business needs.
  4. Investigating and documenting root-cause failures in infrastructure and equipment.
  5. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations through collaboration with vendors and authorities.
  6. Working with engineering, construction, operations, and commissioning teams to test and validate systems.
  7. Supporting operational and analytical activities related to critical systems.
  8. Traveling domestically and internationally up to 50% as required.

Additional key responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing sites against AWS standards for colocation and telecommunications facilities.
  2. Reviewing vendor critical infrastructure designs and performing risk and availability analyses.
  3. Supporting AWS construction and commissioning as Resident Engineer and during operational phases.
